The focused blast caught Nuclear Man off balance as the steady stream of quantum energy was brought to bear against him. Atlee seemed to have something planned, Captain Atom could feel it in the vibrations of the ground, but she needed more time.
" Ok big guy, lets try this again " Nathaniel cut off his energy stream and launched himself into combat.
" Destroy ! " was Nuclear Man's reply as the two men moved to clash.
" Hey 'Mr white knight' !, i had him right were i wanted him " Kara said half mockingly.
Kara could feel strength in her limbs once more as she watched Nuclear Man turn to face his silver skinned assailant, he still seemed easy to distract, which gave them an advantage, Nathaniel had worked this out too, so there was no point in announcing it to their foe.
She rose to her feet and joined in the melee, this time they would put aside any foolish pride and fight together instead of taking turns.
The tactic worked, Nuclear Man's mind seemed unable to process which opponent to attack as they circled and struck with fists, heat vision and energy blasts. He didn't seem overly fazed but everyone could now feel the ground quake as rock was rising over them.
" Keep it up guys i'm nearly done " Atlee was sweating, moving rock was easy, but moving the amounts needed and doing it in a manner that wouldn't cause damage elsewhere required care. But she was nearly finished, as Nuclear Man would be soon enough.
If he were honest, Nathaniel was initially puzzled by what Atlee was doing until it became increasingly dark, then he understood. He had already worked out that it was the Sun that kept Nuclear Man perpetually energised, without that direct source, he could be taken down.
" Good girl, Atlee " Kara knew Atlee was planning something, without the direct stream of Sunlight this bozo's body would shortly shut down, or even break down. They had simply had to keep the pressure on and prevent him escaping if he worked out what Atlee had been focusing on. Her apparent plan looked like it had paid off.
