Captain Atom - Scribblenaut by adamantis Captain Atom - Scribblenaut by adamantis
Captain Atom ( Based on the version created for DC Comics by Cary Bates and Pat Broderick in Captain Atom #1 in 1987 )

A less well known but powerful DC character, Captain Atom has featured in various DC titles over the years and the occasional solo series. He has also frequently featured in the DC animated shows of the last 10 years or so ( Justice League Unlimited, Batman - The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, Batman/Superman - Public Enemies, and Justice League - The Flashpoint Paradox )

The character deserves more attention but gets sidelined in the comics far too often.  Thanks  :)

Yeah, I just started reading comics and was looking forward to starting his New 52 book, but they just made him a Doctor Manhattan clone, it got canceled so hopefully they will take him back to being less creepy

I think it was a disappointment for old fans and for any newer fans that they removed both his striking metallic red/silver/blue costume and his intriguing 1987 origin, only to make him in the New 52 worryingly close to Dr Manhattan in appearance and origin. There was so little left of the character they might as well have called him Captain Manhattan, or Breach.

If they try again i hope they follow the lines of his old universe version a bit more closely, and get his appearance fixed.

The funny thing is they changed him for people like me, new readers, but I actually wanted more of what I have seen in the shows, animated movies, and older comics. If I want Doctor Manhattan then I will read Watchmen books. At least with Captain Atom the writers can make up some half assed excuse for why he has lost all his creepiness "your powers are so unstable you have reverted tom a new easier to look at form with better established powers"
