Description
Big Barda, former captain of the Female Furies of Apokalips, warrior goddess supreme and happy suburbanite, prepares her annual dinner party celebrating her arrival on Earth with her husband Scott Free ( aka Mr Miracle ). Inviting both the neighbors and friends from their JLI days, Barda is certain everything will be fine... this time.
A bit of fun really, J'onn or the Martian Manhunter, has a fear of fire while Barda has sometimes been portrayed as a inexperienced cook.
Big Barda was created, along with the rest of the New God characters, by Jack Kirby. I think Barda and Scott are one of the best couples in the DC Universe, and Barda always struck me as interesting, raised and conditioned on the hellish planet of Apokalips and a formidable warrior ( we'll never see it but i think she could beat Wonder Woman, she's as well trained and much stronger ) yet she seemed to adore living a boring quiet life, because it was hers and dictated by no one ( which was nicely summed up by the character in the animated movie 'Superman/Batman:Apocalypse' ).
